How to Set Up a Water Pump System for My Shower Area?

I'm having a problem with water pooling on my bathroom floor after showers. I'm considering creating a setup that uses a pump to remove excess water from the floor and drain it. I want to use a water barrier to keep water contained near the shower, and implement an Arduino to control a pump mechanism that would activate when water is detected about 1mm above the floor. Is this a feasible idea, or is there something I'm overlooking that would make it impractical?

Honestly, I don't get why people step out of the shower soaking wet! But if you're dead set on your pump idea, it could work. Just make sure you've got a reliable drainage system in place. Also, consider using a mat that absorbs water quickly right by the shower—could save you a lot of hassle.

Your idea sounds creative, but you might want to figure out why water is ending up on the floor in the first place. A towel nearby for drying off could help minimize that. If you’re serious about the pump idea, check out products that minimize surface water, like those quick-drying shower mats. They could be a practical solution before going full DIY with a system.

This seems over the top. I doubt you'll even need a pump. Maybe just wipe off with a towel before you step out. A nice bath mat should soak up most of it. Thinking of a pump system feels like solving a non-problem—just dry off!
