How to Solve a Persistent Bathroom Sink Smell?

I've got a bit of an issue with my bathroom sink—there's a subtle smell coming from it that even reaches into the bedroom. It's not an overpowering stink, nor is it a gas-like odor. I've already replaced the plumbing under the sink, poured bleach down the main and overflow drains several times, tried an enzymatic drain cleaner in both drains, and used a pipe brush in the overflow drain. The smell seems to disappear for a couple of days at a time, but then it always comes back. Any other suggestions for tackling this problem?

Have you checked if you have a drain stopper with a J piece underneath? I had a similar issue myself, and it turned out to be a big glob of hair stuck to that part, soaking up all kinds of stuff and causing the smell.

Just to cover all bases—when you replaced the plumbing, did you also clean out the drain plug assembly? It's a common oversight, but it can hold onto debris and that could be what's causing the odor. Good luck!

Yeah, we replaced the entire drain plug assembly, but the smell persists.

Is the p-trap possibly emptying out? Sometimes, if you have a clogged sewer vent, it can clear out the p trap, which might lead to those weird smells. Even though you mentioned it’s not a gas smell, it's worth checking if that's the issue.
