Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to soundproof my room effectively without making any permanent changes to the building. I'm thinking about using large MDF sheets to create a sort of standalone wall setup—like a room within a room. What's the best way to connect these sheets? I want to ensure that I can take them apart and reassemble them whenever needed. Thanks for your help!

If you're into books, adding a wall of side-to-side bookshelves could help with soundproofing too! Using a wood composite at the back like Homasote or MDF and connecting them with screws or bolts could make them easy to put together or take apart when you need to.
Honestly, if you want to block sound, you really need mass. I tried foam panels before, but they just change the acoustics in the room and don’t really block sound. I plan to set up the MDF sheets like walls, but I'm unsure how to connect them securely while still allowing for disassembly.
MDF can be pretty heavy, so have you considered using foam board insulation? It might save you some weight, although it won't block sound as effectively as something denser like MDF.
