I'm looking to create a flower border in my garden, starting with just one side to see how it turns out. This area gets morning sunlight until about 2 PM, then it goes into shade. I'm interested in planting a variety of flowers with different colors and heights. What seeds or bulbs can I plant in the ground in the next few weeks that will bloom in the spring and summer? Thanks in advance! ?

When I started my first garden, I found it really helpful to check out websites like Thompson and Morgan that offer complete kits for specific flower beds, including all the plants and a planting plan. Even if you don't buy the kit, it's a good source of ideas to guide you!
As a beginner, I'd recommend starting with ready-to-grow plants rather than seeds. Seeds can be tricky; they often don’t germinate well, get eaten by slugs, or look too similar to weeds when they first sprout. Plus, perennial flowers can take time to establish, so anything sown now might just be growing instead of blooming next year. I mostly use seeds if I’m planting in pots first, as that tends to work better. Seeds are cheaper, but that comes with more challenges!
Thanks for the advice. Appreciate it!
It's a great idea to start with a few shrubs that provide structure, especially evergreens that keep their shape through winter. Then you can fill in the gaps with spring bulbs like daffodils, tulips, alliums, or crocuses, which are inexpensive and easy to plant. Over time, visiting garden centers when things are in bloom can help you create a garden that has interest year-round. Make sure to choose plants of varying heights for visual appeal and check the labels for their sunlight needs. It's all about experimenting with what you like!
That’s useful..thank you!

Great I’ll check that out thanks!
