I'm really frustrated! All the bulbs I planted are gone—squirrels have dug them up and eaten them! I've tried using chilli flakes and black pepper, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any other tricks to keep these pesky critters away before I resort to extreme measures? (I promise I'm not going to hurt them, just feeling really upset about this situation.)

One effective way to protect your bulbs is to use chicken wire. You can bury it just under the soil or cover it with mulch if you want to keep it hidden. It's been the only solution that has worked for me.
Have you considered a motion-activated sprinkler? I got one fairly cheap online to scare away outdoor cats, and it might just work for the squirrels too!
I've had my bulbs eaten too—it's so frustrating! I've lost about 150 bulbs this year. Now, I'm just planting squirrel-proof plants instead. Honestly, between squirrels and slugs, I’m tempted to just cover the whole garden with grass!

That sounds like a fun idea! I might give it a try.
