How to Vent a Dryer When It’s Not Near an Exterior Wall?

I'm planning some renovations and want to move my washer and dryer from a cramped area off my kitchen to a bigger mud room in an addition at the back of my house. The issue is, I can't vent the dryer to an outside wall. I'm considering two options: venting down low through my crawl space or up high through the attic. Both would involve a couple of 90-degree bends. Which option is usually better for dryer venting? Any experiences or advice would be appreciated!

Definitely check your local building codes first. They often specify how many bends and how long the vent can be. Generally speaking, shorter runs are always preferable for dryer venting—less chance of lint buildup and better efficiency!

Good point! I’ll look into those regulations before making any decisions.

Have you thought about an all-in-one washer/dryer unit? They don’t need venting at all and run on 120V. That could be a good option if you have a lot of laundry to do, though I’ve heard they can take longer to dry clothes.

We do have a big family, so I’m worried about drying times. Plus, blowing moisture back into the house doesn’t sound great, especially in a humid climate. I’ll stick with conventional for now!
