Ideas for an Awkward Kitchen Space Between Pantry and Cabinets?

I've got this awkward spot in my kitchen between the pantry and cabinets. The pantry juts out about 4 inches farther than the cabinets, so I can't just add cabinets there without one sticking out more than the other. I'm wondering what I can do to make this area feel more connected rather than disjointed. I've been considering floating shelves, but I'd need them to extend quite far to look right. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Am I overthinking it?

Honestly, I think moving the fridge might be your best bet. If you could slide it next to the wall, that would free up space and allow for better flow in the kitchen. A proper layout with the fridge on the side would be ideal! It’s worth sketching out a new plan to see how it could all fit together!

Yeah, I feel you on this! You might want to think about using some over-fridge cabinets that help blend the pantry into the rest of the kitchen. Even a simple white bookcase above the fridge can draw the eye upwards and distract from the awkwardness. Friends of mine put some plants up there, and it looked great! Just a thought!

That’s actually a really clever idea! I like the idea of adding some greenery; it can really help the space feel more inviting!

As a designer, I’m curious why the fridge is so central in the layout. Can you move it? If not, maybe you can install deep shelves without doors to fill that gap. If you want more flexibility, look into slide-out shelves that can pull out when you need them. It could make that awkward space more functional!

Thanks, that’s super helpful! I hadn’t considered the slide-out option, but it sounds like that could really work!
