Hey everyone! I've got an interview later today at a cabinet-making shop, but the truth is, I've never actually made a cabinet or even a box before since I'm just starting out in woodworking. I really want to make a good impression and not look clueless. Any tips or suggestions on what I should focus on during the interview?

Don’t stress too much about your lack of experience. They’re hiring for a helper position, which means they expect to train you. Just show up, listen well, and follow instructions. It’s all about your attitude and work ethic. Also, it’s wise to think about and ask good questions, like what safety procedures they have in place or how success is measured for new hires.
I’d recommend showing that you’re ready to dive in and learn on the job. Talk about being careful with tools and materials because even small details can matter a lot in the workshop. Plus, if you can prepare a couple of insightful questions about their current challenges or success metrics, that would show you're thinking about how you can contribute to their team!
It’s great that you’re stepping into the interview! Just be yourself and show that you’re easy to work with. Highlight your eagerness to learn and your reliability. Those personal traits can really go a long way during your interview. They’ll appreciate having someone who’s enthusiastic about learning rather than just looking for someone with experience. Don’t hesitate to mention tools you’re interested in, like the bone awl, as a conversation starter.
