Hey everyone! I've got a bunch of OSB that I want to use to redo the flooring in my trailer. The current flooring is pretty old and there are a lot of soft spots popping up. I just noticed that the existing floor in my son's room is 5/8" thick, but the new OSB I have is only 1/2" and feels bouncy, which makes me doubt its longevity. I've also got plenty of leftover 2x4s and 2x6s, so I'm planning to add a lot of blocking between the joists. I'm aiming for a solid solution that could last about 10 years. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? What are your thoughts?

It really depends on your joist spacing. If they’re 16 inches apart, I think the 1/2" OSB might be a bit too thin. But if they’re spaced 12 inches apart, it should be fine. Just keep that in mind when you’re laying it down!
Yeah, I agree with others that 1/2" alone isn't enough. We just redid our floors using 1/2" plywood on top of the existing 5/8" to get rid of that bouncy feeling. Just a thought!
Using just 1/2" OSB seems like skimping to me. You might want to consider doubling up the layers and gluing them together to eliminate bounce. In high traffic areas, adding extra cross bracing could also help, especially under heavy furniture and appliances!
