Is 100% Inorganic Potting Soil Harmful for Lithops?

I recently planted some lithops in pure lava rocks, but I've noticed they hold moisture for a day or two. I'm considering switching them to an 80% mix instead. Should I be worried about the 100% inorganic mix killing my lithops?

I have mine in about 90-100% chicken grit or aquarium gravel, and they do perfectly fine with weekly watering—just a quick spritz, not drenching them. They're blooming and splitting nicely! So it sounds like your lithops might adapt well in that mix too.

If you're worried, a mix could help, but they seem okay for now!

I've been using a 100% inorganic mix for my lithops, and they've been thriving! Just make sure the particles vary in size for healthy root growth. You might need to water them a bit more often than what most guides suggest, but overall, it's a solid choice for these plants.
