Hey everyone! We just received a quote for replacing our entry doors and I'm trying to gauge if it's reasonable or not. We live in the suburbs of a large city in the southeast and are planning to swap out our glass front doors for something sturdier due to increasing crime in the area. Although we've been lucky so far, several neighbors have experienced issues.
The quote we got is for $11,000 and includes:
- Provia legacy 20 gauge steel double doors with a transom and sidelights.
- The color and hardware we want, plus a lifetime rot-free warranty.
The company seems reputable with good reviews, but I'm unsure if this price is on point. Any thoughts would be really helpful. Thanks!

Provia makes solid doors, and good quality comes at a cost. I think $11,000 might be a bit high, but it’s not outrageous considering that good craftsmanship is also pricey. For reference, I paid around $5,000 for a pretty basic door back in early 2018, so I’d say do more research but it doesn’t seem completely off base to me.
Just a heads up, any door with sidelights can technically compromise security, so keep that in mind. But really, I suggest getting a couple more quotes to compare prices and options. It’s always good to have a sense of the market.
I hear you! I was going to mention that we have big dogs and a security system, but I left it out for the sake of brevity. I appreciate your input!
I had a similar experience! I got a single fiberglass Provia door with sidelights for around $12,000 a couple of years ago, and that was after getting three quotes in a high-cost area. The door is great but do keep in mind that Provia doesn’t always provide matching exterior trim, which can be a hassle; we had to replace ours because the colors didn’t match exactly. In the end, it looked fine, but just something to watch out for!
That’s really helpful, thanks! I’ll keep that in mind!
