Is $12,100 a reasonable quote for shower and tub renovation?

I received a quote from a company for renovating my shower tub combo, which includes new tile, a new bathtub, new fixture hardware, and waterproofing under the tile. The total quote was $12,100, and I'm wondering if this price is fair or if I should expect to pay closer to $7,500 based on other estimates. What do you think?

Pricing can really depend on your location and the specific choices for materials and fixtures. Some quotes may seem high but can actually be reasonable for the quality of work. You could also consider DIYing parts of it if you're comfortable. Just keep in mind all the hidden costs involved.

Getting a few more estimates would definitely be a good idea to get a clearer picture. Consider the materials being used because that can greatly impact the price. Also, if you want quality fixtures or if the work involves an extensive overhaul, the cost may vary beyond your initial expectations.

Honestly, if that price includes good quality materials and any necessary demolition or repairs, it might not be too far off. My partner and I have charged similar for similar work, especially when rebuilding is involved. It accounts for any surprises during the renovation too.
