Is $128k for a sunroom quote with a 5-day expiration legit or a scam?

Hey everyone! I got a quote from a guy for a sunroom project that would take up about 300 sq ft and mostly consist of glass and metal. The estimated cost is $128k, and he told me that this quote is only good for 5 days! He claims we're getting some discounts for booking early this season, but I've got a bad feeling about it. Also, I haven't secured a loan yet; he's offering me 10% interest because it's through a lender that usually does car loans. Can I even get approved for a loan in 4 days? Lastly, if I went for a sunroom with normal wood walls and windows instead of mostly glass, would that be significantly cheaper? Any thoughts?

I've seen quotes that are way lower than that! If you’re really interested, I’d suggest finding a contractor that works based on your vision instead of pushing you into a deal. A wooden sunroom would definitely be cheaper than all that glass, and it can still look fantastic!

Yeah, a wooden frame can cut costs down significantly. I built one and saved a ton by avoiding a glass-heavy design.

Sounds promising! Do you have any pointers on where to start looking?

Honestly, it sounds like a typical pressure tactic to make you rush your decision. I mean, who needs a quote to expire in just 5 days? Most legit companies give you at least 30 days. Plus, $128k for 300 sq ft seems ridiculously high — like, do they think it’s made of gold or something?

Right? It feels like they’re trying to rush you into buying before you think about other options.

Totally! I would definitely recommend getting a couple more quotes before making any decisions.

Whenever there’s a high-pressure sales situation like this, it’s a RED FLAG. You should always take your time to consider options and get at least two other quotes. Honestly, a good contractor should be fine with giving you some time to think without rushing you. Don’t fall for it!

Exactly! I had a similar experience, and I walked away. There are plenty of reputable companies out there.

Agreed! Take your time and do your research to avoid getting stuck in a bad deal.
