Is $1300 a Fair Price to Replace My Shed Floor?

Asked By ShedGuru93 On

I have a shed with a rotted floor, and a reputable local contractor quoted me $1300 to replace it with pressure-treated lumber. This quote includes removing the old floor and fixing a couple of boards on my deck as well. I'm wondering if it's worth it to get another quote or if this price is reasonable. Anyone have thoughts?

Honestly, you’re getting a reasonable price for a job of this scale. Small jobs can be tough to find someone for, and often those who are available aren’t always the best in terms of quality. So, while you might find someone cheaper, you risk running into bigger problems later on. $1300 seems fair given the current demand for good contractors.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m leaning towards accepting the quote now.

Yeah, I agree. I’ve seen it firsthand: cheaper isn’t always better when it comes to construction.

Based on what I’ve seen, $1300 sounds like a solid quote for a full subfloor and joist replacement. If the contractor is reputable and comes highly recommended by your neighbors, that's a good sign. Sometimes it’s hard to put a price on working with someone you feel comfortable with, especially for small jobs. You might save a few bucks by shopping around, but consider the potential hassle if the cheaper option doesn't pan out.

Exactly! I think it's worth the peace of mind just to go with someone you trust. Cheaper quotes can sometimes lead to issues down the road.

I appreciate the insight! Trust is definitely important to me.

If it’s only for materials and a day of labor, then this is a realistic price. With how material costs have skyrocketed lately, I wouldn’t wait too long; sometimes getting multiple quotes leads to wasting time with no real savings. If you feel comfortable with this contractor, just go for it!

Totally, trust your instincts! A responsible contractor is worth their weight in gold.

That’s a good point. I might just go with my gut on this one.
