Is $1,900 a Fair Price for Bathroom Framing Work?

I had a friend (who works in the trades) frame the bathroom walls for a project I'm working on. It involved framing 250 square feet and cutting out the door area. He charged me $1,900 for the labor, and I'm based in Wisconsin. I think that might be a bit low given the amount of work, but I'm not entirely sure what's standard for this type of task. Since he's a friend of a friend, I want to ensure I'm paying him fairly without taking advantage of our connection. Does this price seem reasonable? Should I consider giving him a little extra?

If he’s skilled at what he does, you definitely got a friendly deal! But just to be sure, try to gauge how long it took him. If it was quick, then $1,900 is solid.

It took him about half a day, and his son helped out as well.

I’d say just pay him what he quoted you. Maybe invite him over for dinner and drinks once the job’s wrapped up!

Honestly, $1,900 for that kind of work sounds like an amazing deal! If you can afford it, offering him a bit more wouldn’t hurt, especially if you think you might need help in the future. It keeps the goodwill going!
