Hey everyone, I came across a 6K water softener setup I'm considering and the quote for installation is $2750, which feels high to me. Plus, the softener itself costs around $550. I live in Texas where the water is notoriously hard, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! I like that they're proposing to install it outside with a Rubbermaid setup, but I'm curious if I'm getting ripped off. Are there better options available?

That price isn’t the worst I’ve seen, but geographic differences matter. Just keep in mind that a shed setup might not protect against freezing if it gets cold enough like during that freeze event in 2020. Make sure it's insulated!

I have considered it! I thought about getting an electrician for an outdoor outlet and maybe a plumber for the lines. But if it's not too tricky, I could totally give it a shot!
Good point! I hadn't thought about the freezing issue. I'm in San Antonio, and indoor installation isn't really an option.
