Is 30 Days Enough Drying Time Before Applying Polyurethane?

I'm working with a thin piece of wood that has only dried for about 30 days. Is it safe to go ahead and apply polyurethane, or should I wait longer?

It really depends on the type of wood and your environment. Thinner pieces might dry quicker, but generally, 30 days is on the edge. You could check the dryness by tapping it; if it rings, it's likely drier. In many cases, it should be okay to poly as long as it feels dry.

The piece is less than an inch thick, so maybe it will be fine!
