I found a 12-piece Pfeil carving tool set at a local pawn shop for $300. I'm thinking about starting wood carving and wondering if this is a good deal for a used set. Any advice or insights?

I just checked my local shop, and they have 10-piece Pfeil sets for around $400. So, $300 for a used one sounds pretty reasonable, especially if they’re in good shape. Just keep in mind that smaller sets typically go for about $150-$160.
Dropping $300 on tools you haven’t used yet might be a bit steep. Starting with just one or two tools to see if you really enjoy it could be a smarter move. Think about what kind of carving you want to do—is this set going to help you meet those goals? It could be a bargain but only if you plan to actually use them for the right projects.
If the tools are in decent condition, $300 is a good price! Just make sure to verify the sizes and types of gouges in the set; they should match what you plan to carve.
