Hey folks, I'm in the process of setting up a budget solar system using some panels I salvaged from a dumpster (they were flooded but actually work!). I'm looking at a hybrid inverter (either the LXP-LB-US 12K or the GSL-12k-US) and need a battery backup. I received a quote for a 15kWh battery system that costs just under $3000. Is this a reasonable price for what I'm getting?

Honestly, that price isn't bad for a UL-listed battery of that capacity. For comparison, an equivalent EG4 battery is around $3100 right now. If you're feeling handy and don't need an inspection for grid attachment, you could actually build your own pack for about half that price. However, keep in mind that some of what you pay for now is likely because the battery is at least somewhat waterproof!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, considering the weatherproofing is definitely worth it if you're using it outdoors. Just have to weigh the benefits!
