Is $4,100 a Reasonable Estimate for Replacing My Well Pressure Tank and Piping?

Hey everyone! I recently replaced my water pump since it wasn't pulling water from my well, but that didn't solve the issue either. After having a well drilling contractor look at it, I got a quote for over $4,100 to replace both the vertical pipe going down the well and the horizontal pipe leading to my house, along with the pressure tank. Just to give you some context, my well is only about 20 feet deep. Is this quote reasonable? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Before you decide, make sure there's actually water in your well! At just 20 feet deep, it's quite shallow, and depending on your area's water table, you might not have enough supply, especially with all the new construction nearby that can affect well levels. Check to see how much water your well can actually produce—usually, it should be around 3-5 gallons per minute. That way, you'll know if you need to rethink this repair!

Exactly! And don’t forget that shallow wells can get contaminated easily by surface pollutants. It’s super important for the well driller to check the water capacity before going ahead with any fixes.
