I'm looking to put in a basic concrete patio in my backyard, and I got a quote of $5,500 for 216 square feet (which measures 18x12). This price includes all the work, but I was a bit surprised by how high it seemed. Can anyone provide insights on whether this is a reasonable price for my area?

That quote isn't too far off for central Massachusetts. Just to give you some perspective, I recently replaced my 446 sqft driveway for about $6,700, and that was in a different area where frost isn't much of an issue. If other quotes you're getting are around the same price, it probably reflects local market rates.
Make sure to consider the specifics of the job. Is the ground level? Would you need to do any demolition? A smooth access area can lower costs, while complicated grading can add to them. It sounds like your site is pretty straightforward, which is good!

Thanks for the tips! The area is mostly level, just needs a little grading but no demolition since it's just grass.
