Is 6 Inches of Soil Depth Enough for Indeterminate Tomatoes?

I'm planning to grow indeterminate tomatoes, specifically Cuor di Bue (Oxheart), and I'm wondering if 6 inches of soil depth is sufficient, especially since I won't have any soil underneath. I'll be using a mix of garden substrate, some topsoil, and organic waste. I'm new to this, so I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

Honestly, 6 inches is likely too shallow for healthy growth. If you're limited on space and depth, maybe consider growing determinate varieties instead. They might be a better fit for shallow conditions.

I’d say the deeper the soil, the better for tomatoes. Last year, I grew indeterminates in 5-gallon buckets, and they developed roots that extended out of the drainage holes! Ideally, more soil volume helps, but it might work if you really want to try it out.

Those buckets had 15 gallons of soil, but what about just 6 inches deep? Will that still allow for decent growth?
