Is $8200 a Fair Price for Attic Cellulose Insulation?

I just received a quote for $8200 from a pest control company for installing 10 inches of blown-in cellulose insulation in my attic, which covers my 1593 sq ft, one-story house. I'm starting to worry this price is way out of whack! Has anyone else dealt with attic insulation costs? Any suggestions for companies that offer decent rates?

That quote does sound way high! Back in 2020, I had my attic done with cellulose and air sealing for about $800. Sure, prices might have increased since then, but I'd definitely suggest reaching out to companies that specialize in insulation rather than pest control. They might offer better deals and expertise.

I appreciate the tip! I'm not too savvy about these things, so I'll look into insulation specialists.

For a house like yours, it should take around 4 hours max to do the job. Have you considered doing it yourself? You can rent the blower from Home Depot, and it’ll only cost you about $1K for materials if you’re up for a DIY project.

I found that a bulk order of insulation for about 2000 sq ft costs roughly $1357 plus the blower rental could be free. If you're interested, check out Greenfiber's R-60 insulation option. It can save you a lot if you're willing to tackle it on your own! I managed two houses in just one afternoon with help from my kid!

Your estimates seem really low considering current rates. How did you manage it so efficiently?
