Is $84 Really the Price for a Powermatic Belt?

I'm trying to revive my old Powermatic 64b table saw and need to swap out the belt while the motor's out. However, I'm shocked to see that Powermatic sells a replacement belt for $84! That feels really overpriced for such a small part. Is this really the going rate, or are there better options out there?

Honestly, Powermatic pricing can be tough to deal with. It seems like it's just part of the equipment game these days. But if you're willing to put in a little effort, there are usually options out there that can save you some cash.

You might want to check out an auto parts store! Bring your old belt in and see if they can match it up. They often have similar belts for a lot less than $84.

Great tip! I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely check my local auto parts first.

Try looking for a polybelt instead; they tend to be cheaper. Just make sure you measure the length, width, and maybe depth. Also, some Powermatic belts use metric sizing, so keep that in mind! Grizzly might also have parts that fit since they make some copycat machines with compatible dimensions. If it's a standard v-belt, consider using link belts too, they're often a good alternative.

Thanks for the info! I’ll grab a tape measure and see what I can find.
