I'm considering a crawl space encapsulation for my home in Tennessee since the crawl space is pretty grimy. The quote I received is for $9,500, which includes standard cleaning, insulation removal, vapor barrier installation, foam board on the walls, a dehumidifier, and treatment for any visible mold. Since my home is about 1,500 sq ft in a humid area, I want to know if this price is below, average, or higher than what others have experienced for similar work?

That price seems pretty standard for your crawl space size. It's not out of the ordinary at all, especially with everything included. Just make sure they're sealing off the vents properly and putting the vapor barrier up the walls. Why are you deciding to get it encapsulated? Are there certain things you're concerned about?

I found out during an AC service that there's a lot of condensation down there. I haven’t really checked it in a couple of years, so it’s just for peace of mind, I guess. What would you say are the must-haves versus the nice-to-haves for this kind of job?
