I received a quote for $16,000 from Pella to replace my front entry door, and I'm honestly shocked. This includes all the outside trim, a storm door, jams, and the entry door itself. The door isn't standard size (83.25 inches tall) and we have deep jams (8.25 inches). I'm looking for something similar in style but not fancy at all. I was really expecting the whole project to cost somewhere between $4,000 and $6,000 at most. Am I just out of touch with current prices?

Yeah, I wouldn't go with Pella if you can avoid it. Their prices are steep, and considering your situation, you could likely get everything done for around $5,000 or even less. Look for local installers who can source doors directly from manufacturers. Often, the middleman is what's driving up costs!
That price is definitely on the higher end. Pella and Anderson often charge more because of their branding, but you might find local guys who could provide better rates for similar quality. Getting additional quotes is the way to go; I wouldn't settle for that first price if it seems too high!
