Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on whether a quote of $2500 for laundry installation is reasonable. We're planning to remove our current washer to sell it and install a stacked washer and dryer in the same space. The catch is there's a shelf, some drywall, and a pipe that's in the way. We were informed that they could remove the shelf and move the pipe behind the drywall to make everything fit. Does anyone have experience with similar installations? How does this price sound to you?

It’s surprising that with so many discussions here, you only got one quote. I think it might be a good idea to get at least a couple more estimates to see what’s considered fair in your area. That's usually a smart move with home projects!
Honestly, it depends on your comfort level with DIY projects. I just did a similar job where I converted my old side-by-side units to a stacked setup. I ended up removing a shelf, relocating the washer box, and installing my new units—all in a few nights after work and a couple of trips to Home Depot. I’d say $2000 is a fair estimate if you were to hire a handyman. If you're up for it, watching a few YouTube videos might save you some cash!
Thanks for sharing your experience! I don’t have much DIY experience, but it’s good to know others find it manageable.

I appreciate the advice! I was a bit anxious to get things moving, plus it’s the weekend, so I thought I’d ask around to save time.
