Is a Benchtop Drill Press the Right Choice for Drilling 5/8″ Holes in 2x3s?

Hey everyone! I'm tackling a project where I need to drill several precisely aligned 5/8" holes through some 2x3 lumber. I've got a battery-powered drill, but I'm not confident it'll give me the accuracy I need. I'm considering the WEN 2.3amp benchtop drill press as a potential solution. Would this be suitable for my needs? Also, it mentions a 1/2" keyed chuck; can I fit a standard 5/8" drill bit into that? I haven't used a drill press since I was in shop class, so I'm a bit out of practice. I'm hoping to keep all my tool costs under $150 USD. Any advice or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Instead of getting a drill press, I found the Milescraft DrillMate really helpful a couple of years ago. It's more affordable (around $35) and lets you attach a regular drill to make straight holes. It's not a full-on replacement for a drill press, but it's a solid middle ground!

Sounds interesting! Do you think it could handle bigger bits well with a battery drill?
