Is a Brushless Ryobi Circular Saw Good for Light Woodworking Projects?

I'm new to woodworking and I'm considering purchasing a brushless Ryobi circular saw. Since I have some Ryobi batteries already, it seems like a convenient option. I plan to use it for lightweight projects like building sawhorses and a workbench in my basement, which only has a single outlet shared with a washer. I want to avoid overloading that outlet, so I'm looking for something that won't draw too much power. Would this circular saw be suitable for my needs, or should I look for something else?

I'd say it's a decent choice for newcomers to woodworking. The saw will get the job done, but keep in mind that Ryobi's prices have been creeping up recently. If you're thinking about more serious projects down the line, it might be worth considering a different brand for battery reliability.

I can relate! With my ADHD, I think I need to see if I really stick with woodworking before investing too much. But I’ve always wanted to get serious about it.

I've had good experiences with Ryobi's brushless tools. My circular saw cuts through tough hardwoods with ease, and I've even built a track saw jig with it. Just keep in mind that for precision work, a dedicated track saw might be worth the investment later on.

For battery-powered circular saws, it's a solid option. If you upgrade to a CMT blade, you'll likely see a noticeable improvement in cutting quality!

This saw will handle most hobbyist tasks just fine! It's a good pick for casual use without breaking the bank.

I've got a mix of brands, but Ryobi works for the occasional use, especially for non-critical tasks. Just make sure to swap out the stock blade for a better one to improve performance!

For light woodworking, this saw should serve you well! Ryobi tools often get some flak, but I've found them reliable for basic projects. They're affordable, durable, and usually go on sale at Home Depot. Just keep an eye out for their 'buy two batteries, get a free tool' deals! Enjoy your building!

Those deals are almost too tempting! I can't help but buy things I don't need just because of them.

Glad to hear that! I snagged a 6.5 inch saw on a local marketplace for just $30. I figured it's a small risk if it doesn’t work out.
