I've just started my own garden and I'm really excited about getting my first greenhouse. However, my garden faces South/Southwest, which means it gets a lot of direct sunlight, especially in the afternoons. It's so hot that it's hard to enjoy sitting outside for long periods. I'm wondering if this intense sun would be bad for a greenhouse? I'm new to gardening and don't have family experience with greenhouses, so I'd appreciate any advice!

You'll be good! Just consider using some shading cloth during the hottest months; they sell it at any garden center. A solar fan can also help with airflow on those still, sunny days. My granddad grew grapevines up the sunny side of his greenhouse, which took some time but really helped with shading. You’ve got this!
My greenhouse is in a south-facing garden, and it can definitely get super hot, often reaching up to 50 degrees! This year I got some shade netting, which has really helped keep the temperature stable. Just remember, if it's hot, you might need to water more often since it can dry out quickly.
I put up a greenhouse last year in a similar South/Southwest facing garden in South Wales. We placed ours under a tree for some shade after about 4-5 hours of direct sunlight. Things definitely grew, but we did lose a few plants to the heat. It hit around 60°C inside, so we need to consider more shade options for next year.
