I'm considering buying a second-hand Parkside table saw for €40. I've heard mixed things about Parkside as a budget brand, and since table saws have a reputation for being dangerous, I'm a bit apprehensive. What risks should I be aware of with a cheaper table saw? I've already spent a lot on tools, and there aren't many affordable options around here that can be delivered. I'm in France, so if there are particular brands I should look for or avoid, I'd love to hear about that too!

The main concern with a cheaper saw is usually the motor strength; it might require more gradual cuts which can be frustrating. However, be mindful that cheaper saws can also be out of alignment, leading to kickback, which is dangerous no matter the brand. Make sure your saw's alignment is spot on, as that’s crucial for safe operation.
I've used a lot of Parkside tools, and honestly, they're not any more dangerous than any other brand out there. Just follow basic safety protocols. Check out Steve Ramsey's video on table saw safety; the tips he gives apply to any saw, whether it's cheap or expensive. Always use push sticks, ensure your fence is square, keep the riving knife on, avoid standing behind the wood during cuts, and trust your instincts—if something seems off, don’t hesitate to pause and reassess.
