Hey folks! I'm a young carpenter just starting to handle my own projects, and I'm considering getting a track saw mainly for achieving clean, straight edges on decking. I've been looking at the DeWalt track saw, but I've heard mixed reviews, especially when compared to other brands like Festool and Makita. I'm leaning towards the Makita model since I found a good sale that comes with a charger and battery. What do you all think? Is it worth the investment?

If you’re in a pinch, a circular saw works fine for straight cuts. Just measure and mark both sides of your deck, then use a straight edge to guide your saw. However, after using my mentor's track saw, I can say it just feels so much more efficient and easier.
Definitely go for the Makita! It's a top-notch tool and gets the job done excellently.
The DeWalt has some design quirks that make it less appealing compared to other options. I’d recommend the Makita for sure. If you can swing it, their xgt range has some additional tools that aren’t available in the lxt line, but keep in mind they are pricier. It depends on what projects you have in mind long-term.
