I received an $18,000 estimate from a well-known contractor for some window and trim work in my home. The breakdown is as follows: $8,000 for a 3-pane casement window in the kitchen (they're HomeGuard windows) and $10,000 to replace rotten exterior trim around 12 windows and 4 doors with PVC trim. This is in Massachusetts. Does this seem reasonable to you?

I’m not familiar with your market, but to me, that seems really high. For comparison, I just had 25 windows replaced along with trim in Colorado for $25,000. Could you provide more specifics about the windows, like the type and features? That can really affect the price!
As a contractor, I think there are some key details missing to determine if that quote is fair. Are you opting for pocket inserts or full replacements? Also, are they putting in all new jambs and casing that are pre-finished? It's worth asking about interior and exterior color options too!
