I'm from Nottingham, and I've noticed it hasn't rained much lately—only once, briefly, in the last month. It's frustrating since I've overseeded my lawn and have to water it daily from the hose, especially with Severn Trent recently increasing my bill by 100%. I can't find any rain in the forecast for at least the next ten days. Is this something we should expect more often? Should I consider investing in some water butts?

Yeah, I remember a similar situation back in ‘96 in Somerset. We had light rain for a bit in April, then it was completely dry until August. My garden had cracks big enough for me to fit my arm into! It was crazy how dry it got.
Don’t stress too much, horse racing and football will still get their fields watered while we’re on hose bans. It’s a bit frustrating though, isn't it? Like, prioritizing sports over everything else!
True! Plus, don’t forget about those fancy country clubs!
This kind of weather might be the new normal due to climate change. We’re looking at more dry spells in the future, which could lead to major food shortages in about 20 years. Let's just hope it doesn't get that bad too soon!
Yeah, it’s been one of the driest springs on record for the UK. Water levels are really low compared to last year. Honestly, you might end up needing to reseed in September—it's usually a better time since weeds will be dying off, and there’s a better chance for rain. Definitely consider getting a rain butt, though it won’t help much if we don’t actually get rain soon. I’m in Northern Ireland, and the rivers are ridiculously low; I’ve never seen it this bad.
And golf courses are even worse! They always seem to get what they need.
