Hey everyone! I've set up a 6-foot tall garden fence to keep raccoons away, and that's working well. But I have a lot of birds around, and I'm worried about harming them while trying to protect my seedlings and veggies. I've heard that bird netting can entangle and harm birds. If I stretch the netting tightly over the fence to prevent them from getting caught, is it still a risk? Also, would hanging shiny objects help deter them?

You might want to tie some flash tape to the fence in a few spots. It can help birds see the netting and avoid it. Just a thought!
Using bird netting can still be risky even if it's tight. Birds could get trapped in it, which can lead to starvation or injury from thrashing around. Plus, it's not just birds; it might harm other small creatures like snakes. Adding shiny objects can be a good deterrent, but keep an eye on it just to be safe.
