Is Cedar Worth the Extra Cost for My Gazebo?

I'm looking to install a 10x12ft gazebo in my backyard, and I've got two options: a cedar version priced at $2,299 and a spruce model for $1,699. I'm wondering if the cedar is actually worth the extra $600, or if I should save some cash and go with the less expensive wood. What do you guys think?

I would say go for cedar! It's a safe bet if you want it to last without issues. If $600 feels too steep, then you probably shouldn’t be looking into a gazebo anyway. It’s an investment in your backyard!

You’re right, $600 isn’t huge in the grand scheme! I do want it to last at least 5 years, if not longer!

Cedar is definitely worth the extra $600! It not only looks better but also lasts way longer against the weather. Plus, it has a nice smell that adds to the whole outdoor vibe!

I didn’t even think about the smell factor! Good point, thank you!

Cedar won't warp or twist like cheaper woods such as spruce. Trust me, my dad had a bad experience trying to use green treated wood for a project, and it fell apart after just two years because of all the warping!

You are right, I should think about the durability!
