Hey everyone! I'm a chicken owner with a veggie garden and a compost pile, but I've never used chicken manure in my compost before. I mainly grow vegetables but I also have a couple of rose bushes. I've read mixed opinions on whether it's safe to compost chicken manure for use on vegetables. Some folks say it's risky, while others claim it's perfectly fine. I don't want to harm my family while trying to grow giant veggies! Does anyone have insights, studies, or experiences with this? Also, I totally relate to my chickens being poop machines—like the Michael Phelps of manure production!

It’s actually safe to use chicken manure, but you need to compost it first because it’s super high in nitrogen. Without composting, it can burn your plants, and that’s likely what you’ve heard people refer to as 'unsafe'. I've been using it for years without any issues as long as it’s properly composted!
Yeah, from what I’ve seen on YouTube, composting chicken poop is definitely okay, but it does take some time. Never tried it myself, though. Anyone else have hands-on experience?
