Is Cutting Grass Considered Part of Landscaping?

I'm in a bit of a debate with my friend about whether cutting grass is included in landscaping. He insists that it isn't part of landscaping, which just seems off to me! Can anyone clarify if mowing is considered landscaping work or not?

You're right in wanting to clarify that! I’ve never met a landscape company that doesn't start off doing mowing. It’s essential for cash flow. Most landscape services will include mowing as part of their overall package, even when they're doing bigger projects like redesigning a yard.

So if a landscaper is doing a redesign, they should handle the grass as well, right? That’s how I see it, but my friend is set on his viewpoint!

Honestly, cutting grass is usually seen as part of landscaping. It's all about context, though. If you're just hiring a lawn service to mow, they might not be doing any actual landscaping work. But generally, most people consider mowing grass as part of the broader landscape maintenance.

I get what you're saying! My friend insists that if you hire someone for a bigger landscaping project, the mowing isn't included. But from what I've seen in the industry, it definitely is a core part of landscapes!
