Is Drywalling My Basement a Smart Move?

Hey everyone! I bought a new build home last year and I'm thinking about drywalling the basement. I don't plan to turn it into separate rooms; I just want to cover the walls for a more finished look. I'm not looking to do anything with the flooring or ceiling right now, just focusing on drywall. Is this a good idea? What are the pros and cons I should consider if I don't fully finish the space? Thanks in advance!

One thing to watch out for is any potential water leaks. If water gets in, drywall can create a huge mess. It's definitely something to keep in mind before you start!

How old is your house? Since it’s only about a year old, you might be okay, but you want to confirm there's no moisture down there. If it's framed already, that’s a plus! What’s your goal for the basement? How do you plan to use the space?

The house is brand new, and thankfully there's no water damage so far. Just planning on making it look nicer for now!
