Is Exposed Wood on Fascia a Problem?

I noticed this section of exposed wood (indicated by the red arrow in this image: https://imgur.com/a/p48cZPo) on the fascia after the contractor started working on our shingles and new gutters. I'm wondering if this is a concern? Could the new gutters possibly cover it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, you definitely shouldn't have exposed bare wood like that. Ideally, there should be a drip edge installed there to protect the wood from moisture. Have they finished installing the shingles yet?

Nope, they're actually scheduled to do that this Thursday.

I don't think the gutters will cover that spot, so it's important to address it. A drip edge is definitely necessary to keep water off the raw wood and prevent future issues.
