Hey everyone! I've been seeing Google Lens get better at identifying plants, but I'm curious if it really replaces the need for specialized plant ID apps. What are your thoughts? Do any of you still use other apps for plant identification?

I've tried Google Lens, PictureThis, and PlantNet. For me, Google Lens has been less reliable—especially for seedlings. PictureThis has some decent results, but PlantNet seems to nail those hard-to-identify ones that the others miss.
All these apps are improving thanks to AI, but I personally love using iNaturalist. It not only identifies plants but also has a community review system, which helps make sure the data is accurate. Plus, it also covers fungi and insects!
I've found that Google Lens is pretty handy for quick identifications, but when it comes to accuracy, I still turn to PlantSnap. It just does a better job when I'm serious about getting the right ID!

Yeah, iNaturalist is great! I like that it’s community-based and contributes to science.
