I'm considering putting a cat door in the wall between our house and the garage for my cat to access a litter box that I want to keep there. My wife thinks it's a practical solution, but I'm curious if anyone has opinions on this before I start cutting into the drywall. Are there any potential issues I should be aware of?

You might want to check with fire codes before doing this. Having a door from the house to the garage might not be allowed if it's not fire-resistant. Just something to consider to keep everything safe!
I put a cat door in the door leading to my garage and it's been great, but just a heads up—my dog has slipped out a couple of times. Also, don't put the litter box near the furnace or any fans; the dust can wreck the bearings in the appliance. Learned that one the hard way!

Yeah, I agree. I don’t know the exact codes either, but this is definitely a concern! It would be a shame to cut a hole and find out it’s not compliant.
