I'm currently working in a retail store with a focus on HVAC and plumbing, and I'm keen on diving deeper into the trades. I've noticed a shift from copper to PEX in my area, and I've been gathering knowledge about this change. I've come across a lot of talk about the benefits of having a battery-operated PEX expansion tool, especially in terms of saving time and reducing fatigue. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with these tools—do you think it's a good investment? What are your thoughts?

I can relate! I started out in plumbing supply before moving into plumbing myself. I actually own two expansion tools: the 2432-20 and the 2632-20. Let me tell you, using manual tools after having battery-operated ones is tough! They're just so much easier to handle, especially with one hand. It’s important to note that not all PEX is the same, though. I recommend looking into the Uponor and Viega Pureflow systems. Depending on the kind of work you do, it might benefit you to be familiar with multiple systems as you might end up needing different tools for different jobs. But overall, I think investing in the expansion tool is worth it!
Your company should actually provide those battery-powered tools! It's a common practice in the trade to have the employer supply essential tools.
That's good to know! I always thought that contractors usually had to provide their own. Thanks for clarifying!

Thanks for sharing! It's interesting to hear you favor both systems. I know my job primarily carries one brand of PEX, and I’ve been curious about the others too.
