I've been using a .25" felt non-slip rug pad under my 8x10 rug in the living room, but I'm thinking about adding another .25" pad to make it a bit more cushy instead of just purchasing a thicker .5" rug pad. Is that a bad move?

Just go for a nice thicker Mohawk rug pad! They’ve got great options that are non-slip, plus you can choose the thickness you want. Much easier than stacking two pads!
Honestly, stacking two rug pads isn’t the best choice. It can make your rug slippery since having more layers might cause them to shift around more. Plus, they could rub against each other and wear out faster. If you're looking for more cushioning, consider just getting one thicker pad instead.
Come on, what are you talking about? The rug police won’t come after you... but hey, I’d still go for a thicker pad for the sake of your rugs!

Totally agree! I think a single good quality pad would give you the comfort you’re looking for without the hassle.
