Is it a good idea to bury a PVC pipe in my garden for future access?

I'm about to start a landscaping project alongside my concrete pad where we have gas and electric hookups toward the front and an above-ground pool further back. I'm considering installing some arborvitae along this area, but I also want to prep for future needs. Specifically, I'm thinking about burying a 2 or 3-inch PVC pipe along the concrete pad now so that I can easily run a gas line or maybe even extension cords later without having to tear everything up again. Is this a smart move? Any tips?

Absolutely! Investing in that type of planning gets you a long way. I'd recommend putting in two pipes—one for power and data (like fiber) and another for gas, water, or whatnot. It's a solid investment!

Future-proofing is definitely a smart strategy, especially since you already have a potential use in mind for the installation. Go for it! It's all about making life easier down the line.

Just ensure that the conduit you bury is suitable for the service you'll be running. A little tip: bury warning tape above the pipe for safety. Better safe than sorry!
