Is it a good idea to flush my old hot water heater?

I've been living in my house for seven years as a renter, and I recently bought it. The previous owner never flushed the hot water heater, which I guess is around 15 years old. I'm a bit worried because I've read that flushing a unit that hasn't been maintained in over five years can be risky. What do you all think? Is it safe to flush it, or should I leave it be?

If it's working fine and you're not planning to replace it soon, I’d just leave it alone for now. Maybe keep an eye on it, and once you decide to get a new one, you can maintain that instead. Sometimes it's better to wait until you need to make a change.
