Is it a good idea to set up a mobile workshop in a trailer?

I'm living in an apartment, which means I don't have room for a proper workshop. I'm considering buying a covered trailer to store my tools and using a generator to power them. I've got some outdoor space where I could park the trailer and run the generator without bothering anyone. I'm curious to hear thoughts from people who have experience with this kind of setup or if anyone has tried it before.

Definitely keep in mind that a basic lock isn't a foolproof solution. Cargo trailers can be vulnerable to thieves, especially if they have a thin shell. If possible, look into insurance options for your tools if you go this route!

It might sound unconventional, but it’s not a stupid idea at all! Many people are making it work with setups like yours. Just be sure you have a solid plan for security to protect your tools.

Have you checked if there’s a community workshop or maker space in your area? That could offer you more security and a better work environment. Just make sure you can secure the trailer where you plan to keep it; it could be a target otherwise.
