Is it a good idea to use hydrogen peroxide in soil for plants like Monstera?

I've been thinking about how to help plants that are prone to root rot, like the Monstera Thai Constellation. Would it be beneficial to add hydrogen peroxide to the soil occasionally, maybe once a month? I haven't used hydrogen peroxide before, so I'm curious about its effects. My thought is that it might help eliminate harmful pathogens before they cause serious issues.

Using hydrogen peroxide can kill all the microorganisms in the soil, not just the harmful ones. While it sounds good in theory, it might wipe out beneficial bacteria and fungi that your plant actually needs to thrive.

Instead of focusing on hydrogen peroxide, if you’re dealing with regular root rot, you might want to investigate your watering habits and the soil mix. Overwatering or poor soil aeration can create root rot situations — better soil amendments like pumice or coconut coir plus proper watering practices can work wonders!

Yeah, it’s a common practice to use hydrogen peroxide in very dilute amounts, but you should be cautious. Too much can actually harm the roots as well as the pathogens you’re trying to target. It’s really about finding that balance.
