Is it a problem if my bathtub caulk spilled onto the tile?

I just finished caulking the edge of my bathtub where it meets the tile, and I went with clear caulk. However, I accidentally applied about half an inch more than I intended, which created a thin layer on the tile. I didn't clean it up properly afterward. Am I in trouble here? Should I remove it and start over?

Actually, for bathroom use, silicone is usually preferred over traditional caulk because it’s more resistant to mildew. If you used regular caulk, it might stain and get moldy. I’d suggest scraping off the current product and starting fresh with silicone this time!

No worries! You can easily remove excess caulk using a metal putty knife or a razor blade. There are even special sprays that help break down and crack the caulk for easier removal. If it doesn't look right, don’t hesitate to scrape it off and reapply. I recommend using tape to achieve cleaner lines, and invest in a decent caulk gun, around $10-15. It makes a huge difference! Just make sure you're using the right caulk for bathrooms—specifically ones that resist mold and match your needs.
