Is It Acceptable to Do Prep Work Before Hiring a Handyman?

I'm planning to hire someone to replace five light fixtures/fans and a toilet. I'm comfortable disconnecting the old fixtures, but I don't feel confident about putting in the new ones. Is it okay to handle the removal myself, or are there any potential issues I should be aware of?

Definitely a good idea to label the wires before you start unplugging anything. If you've got a bunch of white wires together, keep them bundled and use some electrical tape to label them. It’ll save you a ton of trouble later on!

Great tip! I hadn't thought of that before. I'll make sure to take some photos, too, just in case!

Absolutely, go for it! Just make sure you grab some good tools and maybe check out a few YouTube tutorials. Once you get everything done, you'll feel like a pro!

If you can take them down, reinstalling should be totally doable for you. It's a perfect opportunity to learn something new!

Plus, if you swap out the standard wire nuts for some Wago connectors, it'll make your life a lot easier. Trust me, they save so much time and hassle, especially with something like a fan!
